Nairobi
Why visit Nairobi?
Most Kenyan holidays will start or end in the country’s capital city, Nairobi. As the only capital city in the world with a national park on its doorstep, it’s a unique and unusual sight to see lions, rhino or giraffe roaming against a backdrop of city skyscrapers.
Nairobi offers some unique and well-run wildlife encounters – visit the elephant orphanage or giraffe sanctuary where you can experience a closer connection with these incredible animals than would be possible in the wild. The city is rich in history and culture too, with attractions like the Karen Blixen Museum and the vibrant Maasai Market, a popular spot for souvenir shopping. We often suggest a couple of nights here to acclimatise and explore the city’s sights.
Accommodation options include beautiful boutique hotels and Manor Houses set in landscaped gardens as well as international city-style hotels with a wide range of facilities to enjoy. Or you can start your safari experience right away, in one of the traditional safari camps or lodges in the heart of the park.
