Why holiday in Bazaruto Archipelago?

Lying just off Mozambique’s southeast coast are the beautiful islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago. The soft white sand beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters rival any of the Indian Ocean’s finest island retreats, but here you’ll find intimate, toes-in-the-sand lodges accompanied by a warm and friendly African welcome

The National Park is one of the largest marine reserves in the world, where you may still spot the rare dugong, sea turtles and migrating whales, alongside spectacular coral reefs and a colourful marine life. Water-based activities include fishing, sunset cruises on traditional dhow boats or island hopping, with castaway picnics on idyllic sandbars. On Benguerra Island, you can be as active or as relaxed as you wish, go horse riding along the beach, explore the inland lakes, dunes, flora and fauna on nature drives or simply unwind on the unspoiled beaches.

Vilanculos
, on the mainland, is the getaway to the archipelago – from here it’s a short, 10-minute helicopter flight to Benguerra Island, a thrilling way to arrive.

When to travel to the Bazaruto Archipelago

The dry season runs from May to November, with June to October having hardly any rainfall and making for perfect beach weather with warm, sunny days. Temperatures peak but so does rainfall from December through to March.
