Overview

andBeyond Benguerra Island is a tropical paradise set amongst swaying palm trees on a sandy Indian Ocean beach. African and Portuguese heritage combine here to create a distinctive, colourful and warm welcome. The clear warm waters, lined with pristine coral reefs, are teeming with marine life, including one of the last remaining viable populations of rare dugongs.     

Rooms

The lodge has a range of luxurious thatched rooms, set amidst lush island forest. There are two cosy cabanas, ideal for couples or honeymooners, and ten slightly larger cashinas. All combine a tropical look with an African feel in and feature timber decks, plunge pools with ocean views, sun loungers, a sala with hanging daybeds and an outdoor shower. Inside there’s a coffee station, bathtub, Wi-Fi and air-conditioning.

For families or small groups, the exclusive-use Casa Familia is an ideal option with three en-suite bedrooms, a large deck area and private pool overlooking the beach.

Facilities

The welcoming central guest areas offer views of the lush tropical garden and the ocean beyond. Meals are served on the beach or in the garden, with private dining available on request, while on the beach, a repurposed wooden dhow is now a colourful beach bar, a popular venue for toes-in-the-sand cocktails. 

There’s a wide range of activities available to suit all, from snorkelling, diving, kayaking and paddle-boarding, to picnics on a castaway beach, a sunset dhow cruise and swimming with horses. Unwind at the pool or enjoy some pampering in the cool surrounds of the massage sala. The lodge is family-friendly too, welcoming children of all ages.
