Overview

Azura Benguerra is located in a protected Marine National Park in the Bazaruto Archipelago. Here, you’ll find deserted beaches, sparkling seas and nearby Two Mile Reef - a perfect spot for diving, snorkelling and fishing. The last remaining population of dugong can be spotted in these Indian ocean waters, year-round.

The resort was hand-built with minimal equipment by the local community who share in operating it and delivering an exceptional service.         

Rooms

The resort has just 20 beach front villas, each with its own private Mozambican butler-host to look after you during your stay. All are en-suite with indoor and outdoor showers, living spaces cooled by air conditioning and ceiling fans, complimentary Wi-FI and a tea and coffee station. The living spaces extend outside to the covered deck, beachside sala, sun loungers, day bed and a private plunge pool.

Luxury Beach Villas offer more space while the Infinity beach Villas have the addition of a bathtub and can interconnect, ideal for families. The Royal Beach Villas have an additional lounge and a second bathroom suitable for families or couples who value a bit more space.

The Presidential Villa is ideal for multi-generational families accommodating up to ten people. It has its own treehouse with panoramic views of the Bazaruto Archipelago and the Indian Ocean.

Facilities

Much thought is put into the dining options, with each meal served in a different location. Your butler will help you decide whether you want to dine on the beach, have a romantic candlelight dinner at your villa, mingle at the award-winning sociable Peri Peri Beach Club or savour the fresh, local flavours at the Jelly Fish Restaurant.

The Peri Peri Beach Club is located about 1 kilometre along the beach from the resort and is also open to non-residents. It’s a popular place to spend the day around the pool, and enjoying fresh, local seafood. The spa offers rejuvenating treatments in an open-air treehouse or spa pavilion.

A range of outdoor activities is available locally – from island hopping, fishing and sunset dhow cruises to snorkelling and scuba diving among the abundant and colourful marine life. PADI dive courses can also be arranged. From July to October, whale watching trips are available too. Horse-riding along the shoreline and island drives will help you explore further.
