Why safari in The Zambezi Region?
Previously called the Caprivi Strip, the Zambezi Region is a narrow stretch of land in northeast Namibia, nestled between Angola, Zambia, and Botswana. In contrast to Namibia’s parched desert landscapes, this region is a wetland paradise, the lush forests and floodplains a haven for birds and nature lovers alike.
The area forms part of KAZA, the Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area, the largest conservation area in the world. Elephants are drawn to the rivers and are frequently seen on game drives and guided walks. Gentle boat cruises at sunrise or sunset may reveal hippos and crocodiles as well as a plethora of birds.
Lodges here are completely immersed in nature, either set on the banks of a river or on a private island. Houseboats and a floating boutique hotel offer river safaris, cruising for two or three nights along the Chobe River. The cruises, and indeed the Zambezi Region, can be easily combined with visits to Chobe National Park and the incredible Victoria Falls.

When to travel to The Zambezi Region
The Zambezi Region is best to visit during the dry winter months from July to October as the wildlife tends to gather around the waterholes. The vegetation is also thinner during these months, making it easier to spot wildlife.
