Overview

The Okonjima Nature Reserve is nestled in the Omboroko Mountains, home to leopard and plains game. The AfriCat Foundation, a conservation centre for cheetahs, leopards, aardvark, pangolin and brown hyena is found on the reserve.

Rooms

Okonjima offers a choice of accommodation:

Plains Camp has 11 View rooms and 14 Classic rooms, all en-suite. All rooms are family friendly and include tea and coffee making facilities and a mini-fridge. We recommend the View rooms for more space - both inside and outside from the large veranda with views over the plains.

The luxury and intimate Bush Camp offers eight secluded thatched African-style chalets and a Junior Suite. Each chalet has an open-air sala & lounge with minibar, tea and coffee with views of the visiting bird and wildlife. The Junior Suite is spacious, with a lounge, fireplace and an outdoor shower. Bush Camp is ideal for honeymooners or families with children over the age of twelve.

The Bush Suite and African Villa Boutique Lodge offer exclusive use and private stays and are ideal for family groups. Ask the African Pride team for more details.

Facilities

At Plains Camp, the spacious barn area includes a dining area and lounge, boma and waterhole views. There are two secluded swimming and relaxation areas. Children over the age of 3 years are welcome.

The welcoming Lapa area at Bush Camp includes a reception, cosy lounge, bar, boma and dining area overlooking the waterhole. There is a secluded swimming pool and relaxation terrace.

Activities on the reserve include leopard tracking, game drives, birding, a guided nature walk or a self-guided walk along the hiking trails. Guests can also visit the AfriCat Carnivore Care & Information Centre.

Activities at Plains Camp are at additional cost; at Bush Camp some activities are included, depending on the package booked - please ask the African Pride team for more details.
