Overview
Ruzizi Tented Lodge is an eco-lodge situated on the shores of Lake Ihema in Akagera National Park. Surrounded by palm and fig trees, it’s an intimate and tranquil base from which to explore the national park.
Rooms
The lodge has nine tents set back from the lake, each with en-suite bathroom, a dressing area and a queen-size bed. Shaded verandas with chairs and a tree-trunk table provide a comfortable outdoor space. For added romance, the Honeymoon tent has a bathtub, outdoor shower and king sized bed; the Family tent can accommodate two adults and two children. Wi-Fi is available in the tents.
Facilities
Ruzizi is entirely powered by solar energy and has been designed to blend in with the environment. Local artisans contributed to the lodge’s decorations and furniture. Wooden walkways lead from the tents to the communal dining area, bar and lounge. A stunning deck with a central fire pit overhangs the lake and is a popular spot for morning coffee or pre dinner drinks.Activities available from the camp include walking safaris, game drives and night drives as well as boat trips on the lake and fishing. Cultural experiences with a community guide can be arranged to a local dairy farm, a honey cooperative and a banana-beer maker.
