Why holiday in La Digue?

Setting foot on La Digue is like stepping back in time. It’s the smallest of the three main islands and with no airport the only access is by boat. There are only a handful of cars on the island, so the pace of life is slow and relaxed. Bicycles and ox-carts are the main form of transport, which adds to the island’s charm.

Most visitors hire a bike, but beware, there are some steep hills! There are of course also stunning beaches such as Anse Source d’Argent - with its granite boulders and powdery white sands, it is breathtakingly beautiful. You may come across giant tortoises as you explore and the colourful coral reefs are ideal for snorkelling and diving. Or hike up to Belle Vue for panoramic views of the island.

When to travel to La Digue

In the Seychelles the seasons are determined by the trade winds. From November to March the winds from the northwest bring the warmest temperatures and the heaviest rain. December and January are the wettest months. Between May and October the southeast winds bring slightly cooler temperatures and much less rain. The transition months between the seasons (April, May, October and November) can be the most pleasant.
