Mahé
Why holiday in Mahé?
Mahé is the largest island in the Seychelles, home to the country’s capital city and international airport. It’s a tropical paradise where dramatic granite boulders sit on powdery white sands, and forested mountains stretch down to the sea. With over 60 beaches and coves to explore you are spoilt for choice, but we think the coastline between Anse Royal in the southeast to Anse Louis in the southwest is particularly beautiful.
The calm, crystal clear waters are ideal for water sports and the diving is spectacular. Away from the beach, the Morne Seychellois National Park has forests, mountains, waterfalls and panoramic views from the island’s highest peak. The capital, Victoria, is full of Creole character with busy local markets, botanical gardens and even a miniature ‘Big Ben’ clock tower.
All visits to the Seychelles will include Mahé at some point, whether it’s your final destination or a stopping point on an island-hopping itinerary. With accommodation choices that range from small beachfront boutique retreats to full-service resorts, there is something to suit all tastes and requirements. Day trips to nearby islands can be arranged and ask our team about an island-hopping cruise.

When to travel to Mahé
In the Seychelles the seasons are determined by the trade winds. From November to March the winds from the northwest bring the warmest temperatures and the heaviest rain. December and January are the wettest months. Between May and October the southeast winds bring slightly cooler temperatures and much less rain. The transition months between the seasons (April, May, October and November) can be the most pleasant.
