Overview

Phinda Private Game Reserve is almost 30,000 hectares of protected wildlife area. With a diverse range of habitats, from woodland and forests to grasslands, wetlands and mountains, the reserve is scenically beautiful and home to a wide variety of wildlife.

Rooms
 

There are six lodges at Phinda, two of which are available for exclusive use. Locations vary from mountainside with extensive views cross the reserve to looking out over the plains or nestled in among the trees in Africa’s last remaining dry sand forest.

• Mountain Lodge -a family-friendly lodge with 16 suites, six cottages and a family suite (the cottages can interconnect for families). All rooms (except the family suite) have private plunge pools and outside showers.
• Rock Lodge – six intimate suites set into the cliff face, each with a private plunge pool and deck with views across the reserve. Four suites have outdoor showers.
• Forest Lodge – a stylish eco-lodge, the 16 luxury suites have floor-to-ceiling windows and are nestled amongst the trees.
• Zuka Lodge – a four-bedroom lodge that can also be reserved for exclusive use. Bedrooms overlook a waterhole and each has an outdoor shower. The lodge has a pool, and when booked for exclusive use, comes with dedicated staff.
• Vlei Lodge – six beautifully furnished, spacious suites with outdoor showers and a private lap pool.
• Homestead – an exclusive-use, four-bedroom villa with a private pool and dedicated staff.

Facilities

Each lodge has its own communal area for dining and relaxing. Mountain Lodge features a large pool, gym, wellness centre and Kids Lounge. 
Forest Lodge offers a pool, gym, wellness centre and a firepit. Zuka Lodge has a pool, and guests of Homestead Lodge can work out at the gym. 
Rock Lodge’s intimate atmosphere lends itself to couples (no children under 12 years) and boasts a rooftop terrace for romantic dining under the stars. 

A WILDChild programme, specially designed for children aged 3-12, operates from all lodges except Rock Lodge. Mountain Lodge is particularly family-focused.

Twice daily game drives and guided walks are included. A host of additional activities, including e-biking, an overnight sleepout, conservation experiences, Zulu village visit and a seasonal turtle nesting adventure can be arranged at additional charges.
