Overview

Set along the Matlabas River with the Waterberg Mountains in the distance, Marataba Safari Lodge has an idyllic setting in a private reserve within the Marakele National Park. With luxury tents that can comfortably accommodate a family, a Kid’s Adventure Club, sunset cruises on the river and a malaria-free ‘Big 5’ safari experience, it’s a popular choice with families. The limited number of lodges within the reserve adds to the exclusivity of the safari experience.

Rooms

The 15 luxurious tented suites are air-conditioned and built of canvas and stone, each with its own private deck and outside shower with sweeping views of the plains and the river. Four Family Tents have a second bedroom for children kitted out with bunk beds.

Facilities

The main lodge has a bar, lounges, dining room, boma and a library housed in a stone tower affording a birds-eye view of the surrounding scenery. There is also a spacious swimming pool and hammocks to relax in.

Activities include twice-daily game drives on open safari vehicles and bush walks in the 23,000 hectare reserve, as well as river safaris along the Matlabas River on the Miss Mara boat. The Mack & Madi Kids’ Adventure experience includes fun-filled activities in the eco garden, movie nights and game drives designed especially for families.
