Overview
 

The Mantis St Helena is a boutique hotel in the heart of Jamestown. The restored historic buildings, the original officers’ barracks of the East India Company dating back to 1774, have been tastefully converted into the island’s premier hotel with a blend of contemporary and heritage rooms. The Castle Gardens are just opposite and the town’s sights, shops and restaurants are a short stroll away.
 

Rooms
 

The 30 rooms are divided between the original buildings and a newly constructed building that is linked via two spacious terraces. Heritage Rooms and Suites feature original teak floors, high ceilings and views of Jacob’s Ladder. Both are furnished in an elegant, classical style, with the suites providing a bit more space. The Contemporary Rooms are in the new building and are smaller in size and furnished in a modern style. Some rooms interconnect, a helpful option for families. All rooms have an en suite bathroom, satellite TV, tea and coffee station and are air-conditioned for added comfort.

Facilities
 

The hotel’s restaurant serves local and classical dishes that reflect the island’s cultural influences over the years, with options to dine indoors or al fresco on two large terraces. Enjoy a selection of locally distilled spirits and wines at the Cocktail Bar – the hotel has the largest wine selection on the island.
