Overview

Rufiji River Camp was designed to complement its riverside location. And being close to the river means there’s a constant flow of animals coming down to drink.

Rooms

Eleven classic tents sit under thatched roofs and have large verandas with river views. Each are simply decorated with spacious en-suites where the showers are solar heated and the tents cooled by floor-standing fans. Three two-bedroom tented suites have their own plunge pool making them ideal for families or friends.

Facilities

At the heart of the camp is the main lodge with stone floors and traditional, high-pitched makuti roof. It houses the lounge, bar, library and dining area, though meals can also be taken along the riverbank. There’s also a pool to cool off in. As well as game drives, camp activities include boating safaris on the river and guided walks.

Rufiji River Camp

Rufiji River Camp is set high on the banks of the Rufiji River in the Eastern side of the Nyerere National Park.

"We had an amazing, awesome trip to Tanzania and Zanzibar. Everything ran smoothly and we managed to see the Big 5 plus lots of lions, tree lions cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, hippos, elephants galore etc. Even the wildebeest. The accommodation was great everywhere. We had the most wonderful time and despite the cost, the air balloon flight was so worth it. Such an experience, none of us will ever forget."
