Even the boat journey to this special remote area sets the scene for the desert island castaway feel this lodge evokes. However, the main event is chimpanzee trekking through the surrounding jungle, a unique combination of experiences..
Rooms
The six A-frame, open bandas have a rustic charm, with beds draped in white mosquito nets, bathrooms with a shower, and at the front of each banda, a deck with loungers to relax on overlooking the lake. They are each privately tucked away into the forest surrounding the camp, yet steps away from the sandy shores of the lake.
Facilities
The double height main lodge is a wood and thatch construction, right on the beach, with a lounge and dining area. The top deck is a perfect spot for sundowners overlooking the lake.

Greystoke Mahale sits on a white sand beach on the shores of Lake Tanganyika with the forested mountain slopes behind.
"We had an amazing, awesome trip to Tanzania and Zanzibar. Everything ran smoothly and we managed to see the Big 5 plus lots of lions, tree lions cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, hippos, elephants galore etc. Even the wildebeest. The accommodation was great everywhere. We had the most wonderful time and despite the cost, the air balloon flight was so worth it. Such an experience, none of us will ever forget."
