Why holiday in Uganda?

‘The Pearl of Africa’, is best known for its treks to see mountain gorillas in the Bwindi Forest, but the country is also blessed with exceptional natural beauty. Queen Elizabeth National Park has excellent wildlife and beautiful surroundings whilst Murchsion Falls shows the river Nile in a spectacular light.

We always love to explore deeper into the country taking in Lake Victoria, the Kazinga Channel and the more elusive forest animals including chimpanzees. Whatever your choice, Uganda has a unique feel which will not disappoint.

Explore Uganda

Uganda’s parks combine natural wonders such as volcanoes, crater lakes and rainforests with some of the most incredible wildlife, birdlife and opportunities to spot primates, including gorillas, chimpanzees and several different monkey species.

Tucked away in the southwest of the country on the edge of the Rift Valley, is Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a biologically diverse rainforest, UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to an estimated 400 mountain gorillas. And while the gorillas may be the main attraction, over 400 plant species and 120 species of mammals, including chimpanzees and elephants, also dwell amid the trees.

Mountain Gorillas
can also be found on the forested slopes of Mgahinga, Uganda’s smallest park, as well as the endangered Golden Monkeys.

Straddling the equator, the Queen Elizabeth National Park delivers a classic safari experience amid beautiful scenery. A highlight of the park is the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway that links lakes Edward and George and is a haven for birdlife, hippos and the Nile crocodile.

Kibale National Park
is known for its large chimpanzee population, but the tropical forests, hills and valleys are home to 12 other primate species as well as forest elephants, buffalo and over 300 bird species.

We believe that no trip to Uganda is complete without a visit to the most impressive waterfall in East Africa: Murchison Falls, where the River Nile explodes with dramatic force through a narrow gap in the rock. A game drive along the banks of the Nile may also reveal lions, buffalo, Rothschild giraffe and more

Uganda’s Accommodation

The choice is yours! On safari, options range from beautiful lodges in the most remote and scenic settings to authentic, simple tented camps. Discuss with us your preferred style of accommodation and we can suggest properties to suit from our wide selection of hotels, camps and lodges.

When to travel to Uganda

The dry season months of June to August and December to February are the best times for trekking primates and for birding. Forest trails are particularly challenging in the wettest months from March to May and again during October and November.

The rains do bring stunning lush green scenery however meaning Uganda can appear at her most beautiful if you are prepared to get wet.
