Why holiday in Queen Elizabeth National Park?

Straddling the equator, the Queen Elizabeth National Park is scenically beautiful. From enormous craters, forests and rolling hills to wetlands, lakes and endless plains, the landscapes are breathtaking. Hippos, buffalo, crocodiles and elephants gather along the banks of the Kazinga Channel, a 32-kilometre waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George.

A boat safari on this vibrant channel is an unforgettable experience. Safaris in the park not only showcase the area’s natural beauty, but also provide opportunities to spot wildlife such as leopards, elephants, baboons and lions – in the Ishasha sector of the park, the lions are renowned for climbing trees. In the Kyambura Gorge, a lush, tropical forest within the park, it’s possible to trek to see chimpanzees in their natural habitat.

*The FCDO is currently advising against travel to this area. We monitor these advisories closely at all times. If you are interested in visiting Queen Elizabeth National Park in the future, please let us know and we will be in touch when travel restrictions are removed.*

When to travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wildlife viewing is optimal during the driest months of January, February and June to August. The wettest months of April, May and September to November can see a lot of rainfall, whilst in the shoulder season months the rains that arrive do make the park beautiful and green.
