Why safari in Lower Zambezi National Park?

With a towering escarpment on one side and the Zambezi River on the other, much of the wildlife in the Lower Zambezi is naturally drawn to the valley floor. Riverine forests, floodplains and acacia groves are a haven for birds while the river is a vital, year-round source of water. The Lower Zambezi is particularly known for its large herds of elephants, big cats and predators as well as a variety of plains game and of course, crocodiles and hippos. Just don’t expect to see giraffes, they are not present here.

The Lower Zambezi is one of the few parks where you can enjoy a mix of activities and explore in multiple ways, each providing a unique perspective on the wildlife and landscapes. Traditional game drives are complemented by the more immersive experience of a walking safari, as well as boat safaris and canoeing on the river. Catch-and-release tiger fishing is available too.

With only a handful of camps in the park, and a few more in the wildlife areas just outside, an exclusive, crowd-free safari is assured.

"The holiday was absolutely fantastic. Saw all the big 5 except rhinos. The accommodation was top class (lovely big beds), the people who staffed it were so friendly, guides were so knowledgeable, you really felt they wanted you to visit their country. We did a helicopter tour over Victoria falls, which were awe inspiring - another highlight of the holiday. All the transfers were smooth and efficient and this reduced any stress in the holiday, loved the small plane hops between camps in Botswana. We had an unforgettable holiday and will be boring our friends and family with it for months. Thanks for your help in organising this wonderful holiday. "

" We had a wonderful time! We loved the journey and whole experience on Rovos Rail from Pretoria to Vic Falls. We especially enjoyed Victoria Falls and the wildlife in the grounds of the hotel! We liked Mauritius alot. "

"South Africa was absolutely fabulous. Too many highlights to mention. The “stand out” for us was definitely the Rovos Train. The helicopter flight over Victoria Falls was exciting & the Safari at Shamwari was superb! Driving the Garden route (& sometimes off the beaten track !) was stunning. Great memories of such a lovely country."

" Zambia amazed me. It felt like I had this beautiful wilderness all to myself. I loved the back-to-nature feel of the bush camps and the pampering in the luxurious waterside lodges. Fantastic leopard sightings, sundowners with pink fizz and the people so warm and welcoming everywhere. "
