Overview
Chiawa Camp, is an award-winning safari camp. In addition to all the amazing safari experiences led by one of Africa’s best guiding teams, the cuisine, the personalised service, and a vast array of activities are what also sets it apart.
Rooms
Chiawa Camp’s nine tented chalets are set on elevated shaded decks, affording panoramic views. Each tent is en-suite with twin washbasins, indoor and outdoor showers, and a claw bath.
In front of each there is a ‘bench wallow’– in cooler weather this is a sunken lounge area or in hot weather, a plunge pool is created. There is power for charging appliances and cameras, and complimentary Wi-Fi.
The luxurious Safari Suite is much sought after by honeymooners and families alike and features an outdoor lounge with a private fireplace and a 16 m plunge pool. The day beds can be converted to beds for children.
Facilities
The thatched lounge/bar area has an upstairs viewing deck with some of the best views of the Zambezi, a wonderful spot for sundowners. Meals are enjoyed al fresco on the veranda in front of which there is a campfire. Cool down in the pool or burn off some calories in the small gym.
Camp activities include game drives by day and night, river safaris, canoeing, walking and catch and release fishing.
In addition, a riverfront photographic hide is perfectly positioned for wildlife viewing and taking close-up photos.
Just downstream from the camp is the Star Bed Tower, a romantic safari sleepout platform with a bed and bath overlooking the river.
The camp is closed mid November to April.
