Overview
Kafunta River Lodge offers a warm and relaxing atmosphere, with plenty of opportunity to discover and enjoy some of the richest wildlife areas of Zambia, while enjoying the hospitality of an authentic owner run lodge.
Rooms
The camp has ten thatched chalets raised on wooden platforms, with private viewing decks. Each chalet includes en-suite facilities with hot and cold running water. The standard chalets are spacious, and the luxury chalets feature an upstairs viewing veranda and bathroom.
The lodge also features a private tented villa, The Sunset House, with 3 en-suite bedrooms. This is perfect for multi-generation families or small groups of friends seeking more privacy and flexibility.
Facilities
The camp’s main area has a shared dining space and an open-sided thatched lounge and bar with views across to the Luangwa River and the South Luangwa National Park. A campfire is lit each evening, and a comfortable wooden deck overlooks an active waterhole with uninterrupted views. A wildlife hide under the deck is the perfect place for photography or bird watching. There is an infinity pool, natural hot spring tub and wellness spa.
Activities on offer include game drives (morning, afternoon, and night), bush walks, and village & cultural tours.

Kafunta River Lodge is found on the edge of a scenic floodplain looking towards the South Luangwa National Park.
"The holiday was absolutely fantastic. Saw all the big 5 except rhinos.The accommodation was top class (lovely big beds), the people who staffed it were so friendly, guides were so knowledgeable, you really felt they wanted you to visit their country. We did a helicopter tour over Victoria falls, which were awe inspiring - another highlight of the holiday. All the transfers were smooth and efficient and this reduced any stress in the holiday, loved the small plane hops between camps in Botswana. We had an unforgettable holiday and will be boring our friends and family with it for months. Thanks for your help in organising this wonderful holiday. "
