Overview

Under a thick grove of mahogany trees, Tena Tena sits on a double-tiered riverbank, with spectacular views of the Luangwa River. It is sandwiched between the river and a lagoon system which creates a constantly attractive environment for game.

Rooms

There are six tents, each with its own view out onto the Luangwa River and its varied wildlife. Each tent has an en-suite open air bathroom, and a good view from every angle. The tents have been thoughtfully positioned to maximize privacy both in the rooms, bathrooms and on the verandas with comfortable sitting areas and excellent views onto the river.

Facilities

The main shared tent area features a range of comfortable seating made out of old tree stumps. Dinner is served outside where possible, on the banks of the Luangwa River.

Activities include day and night game drives and walking safaris. Supporting the local community is important, with village tours, and excursions to nearby charitable projects such as the Wildlife Education Centre and the Tribal Textiles. Due to the remote nature, there is no mobile phone or Wi-Fi available at Tena Tena.

The camp is open from the end of May to October. Children over the age of 12 years are welcome.

Tena Tena Camp

Tena Tena Camp is set in the exclusive northern Nsefu Sector of the South Luangwa National Park.

"The holiday was absolutely fantastic. Saw all the big 5 except rhinos.The accommodation was top class (lovely big beds), the people who staffed it were so friendly, guides were so knowledgeable, you really felt they wanted you to visit their country. We did a helicopter tour over Victoria falls, which were awe inspiring - another highlight of the holiday. All the transfers were smooth and efficient and this reduced any stress in the holiday, loved the small plane hops between camps in Botswana. We had an unforgettable holiday and will be boring our friends and family with it for months. Thanks for your help in organising this wonderful holiday. "
