Overview

Nestled under an incredible grove of acacias, along the edge of a seasonal flood plain, Somalisa Expeditions is built in the style of a mobile camp and evokes a safari experience from a bygone era, with exceptional wildlife found in the area.

Rooms

The camp has six meru-style tents built on raised platforms with views across the savanna. The bedroom area has canvas walls and is decorated with quality teak furniture, whilst the bathroom area has more an open-air feel, but is well appointed with indoor and outdoor showers and all the amenities needed for a more than comfortable stay. There is a family room which has two bedrooms connected by a wooden deck.

Facilities

Somalisa Expeditions' main area includes a lounge and shared dining area on raised decking. The outside campfire area leads down to the pool, beyond which is what was the camp’s original pool, now converted to a waterhole for elephants. The camp also has a waterhole on the vlei in front of camp which is frequently visited by a range of wildlife.

There is a large choice of activities included: guided walks lead by qualified and passionate guides, game drives and night drives and local community visits. There is also the opportunity to sleep under Africa’s canopy of stars in a treehouse-style sleep-out built within an acacia tree.
