Overview

Chundu Island is a picturesque, tree-lined island on the Zambezi River, 21 kilometres upstream from the Falls. The island is 1.4 kilometres long and home to an exclusive, Seychelles-inspired lodge offering the ultimate island safari experience: peaceful, serene and beautiful, yet still close to attractions in the area.

Rooms

The Lodge has eight spacious and light, open plan suites, all facing the river. Each suite has king or twin beds, overhead fans, tea and coffee station, a walk-in dressing room and en-suite bathroom with a freestanding bath and an outdoor shower. Outside there’s a day bed on the private deck, a tranquil spot to relax and watch the river.

Two Family Suites have two separate bedrooms and a shared bathroom, with a freestanding bathtub and outside shower.

Facilities

The lodge’s main area is located on a series of decks, wrapped around magnificent trees. There is a pool, indoor and outdoor dining area, bar and lounge and down by the river bank a fire pit provides the best venue to end a day in Africa. The Wine Cellar is well-stocked with fine South African wines.

Activities include sundowner river cruises, canoeing on the Zambezi, game drives and guided walks in the Zambezi National Park, fishing, birdwatching, a walk around the island and a visit to the Falls. Two scheduled activities are included each day and complimentary transfers are offered to the Falls.

The Kidz Zone organises daily activities for younger guests.

Chundu Island is located 21 kilometres upstream from the Victoria Falls, in the Zambezi National Park.

"The holiday was absolutely fantastic. Saw all the big 5 except rhinos.The accommodation was top class (lovely big beds), the people who staffed it were so friendly, guides were so knowledgeable, you really felt they wanted you to visit their country. We did a helicopter tour over Victoria falls, which were awe inspiring - another highlight of the holiday. All the transfers were smooth and efficient and this reduced any stress in the holiday, loved the small plane hops between camps in Botswana. We had an unforgettable holiday and will be boring our friends and family with it for months. Thanks for your help in organising this wonderful holiday. "
