The Elephant Camp

VICTORIA FALLS

Overview

The Elephant Camp is special place: not only is it a beautiful lodge offering excellent accommodation, it is also characterised by immersive encounters with nature, local cultural experiences and conservation work in the area. Victoria Falls itself is around twenty minutes from the lodge, making it an ideal location to find a balance between the exclusivity of the bush and the excitement of Africa's ‘Adventure Capital’.

Rooms

The camp’s 12 luxurious suites are canvas structures set on wooden decks and positioned facing the gorge – the views are incredible. Inside there’s a lounge area and bed, with air-conditioning, ceiling fan, a well-stocked mini-bar and complimentary Wi-Fi. Separated from the bedroom by a canvas door, the spacious bathroom features a freestanding bath with a view. Sliding glass doors open onto a large deck at the front of the suite with a private plunge pool and outside shower.

Two of the suites can accommodate families with the addition of a fold-out sleeper bed.

For small groups of friends or families, Elephant Camp West is a smaller version of Elephant Camp, with just four luxury tented suites. It operates separately to Elephant Camp with its own dining tent and pool.

Facilities

The main lodge has a comfortably furnished lounge and bar, a pleasant spot to relax and socialise and a large, decked area with views across the reserve to the Falls and the Batoka Gorge. Meals are served either indoors or on the deck and range from finely created seasonal menus to hand baked pizzas. Steps lead down to the pool and firepit and wellness treatments are available at the small spa.

A complimentary shuttle runs into the town and a wide range of experiences is included in your stay*. Experiences offered include a breakfast, brunch or lunch at the Lookout Café, sunset cruise on the Zambezi Royal, cocktails and canapes overlooking Batoka Gorge, game drives, birding and nature walks, a guided tour of the Falls, a canopy tour, a visit to the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust, a village tour and an elephant conservation experience.

*Activities are weather and time permitting; some are offered once per stay. Our team will be happy to advise further.

Our thoughts

" The Elephant camp feels more like a safari camp than a city property, with its tented suites, idyllic location and range of experiences.

Waking up to the sounds of the bush and the birds is simply magical.

Three of the suites have a star bed where you can enjoy a night under the African stars. "

"The holiday was absolutely fantastic. Saw all the big 5 except rhinos. The accommodation was top class (lovely big beds), the people who staffed it were so friendly, guides were so knowledgeable, you really felt they wanted you to visit their country. We did a helicopter tour over Victoria falls, which were awe inspiring - another highlight of the holiday. All the transfers were smooth and efficient and this reduced any stress in the holiday, loved the small plane hops between camps in Botswana. We had an unforgettable holiday and will be boring our friends and family with it for months. Thanks for your help in organising this wonderful holiday. "

" We had a wonderful time! We loved the journey and whole experience on Rovos Rail from Pretoria to Vic Falls. We especially enjoyed Victoria Falls and the wildlife in the grounds of the hotel! We liked Mauritius alot. "

"We had a FABULOUS time. Even my husband, who was not keen on going, enjoyed the trip! We saw the Big 5 as well as many other animals. The vulture feeding at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge was well worth watching. It is part of a foundation to keep these birds from becoming endangered. It was a great trip and my family loved it. Thank you so very much for all your help in making the trip a reality for us!!!"
