VICTORIA FALLS
Built in 1904, The Victoria Falls Hotel is popularly known as ‘the grand old lady of the Falls’. An Edwardian-style 5-star hotel, set in extensive gardens with vast lawns dotted with lily ponds and surrounded by palm trees, it creates privacy and a feeling of calm, a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the town which is just moments away.
The hotel’s 149 rooms are either in the main hotel building or in the Stables wing. Each is comfortably furnished in keeping with the hotel’s heritage. All rooms have tea and coffee-making facilities, air-conditioning and complimentary Wi-Fi. Overall there are seven room categories with the Royal Batoka and Presidential Suite offering the ultimate in space and luxury.
The Classic rooms can be double or twin, and each has a modern bathroom with shower. Some rooms interconnect and have a ‘component room’ which is three rooms under one key, a good option for larger groups or families.
Rooms in the Stables wing have an older style of décor and overlook the lawns or the Stables courtyard. These rooms have a separate bath and shower. The Stable wing comes with additional benefits such as a private check-in area, a limited complimentary mini-bar, afternoon tea and cake served in the Stables lounge and a 25 minute back, neck or foot massage.
Premium rooms are larger than Classic rooms with a dedicated lounge area and overlook either the gardens or the Batoka Gorge.
The remaining are a collection of spacious suites which can have either separate lounges, balconies, dedicated lounge areas around the hotel or the iconic view down the gorge to the bridge. Naturally all are well appointed. Speak to the African Pride team to discuss which suite will suit your requirements.
There is a large pool located in a quiet area of the hotel and a small spa room.
The hotel’s restaurants offer a range of dining options. These include the opulent Livingstone Room for fine dining and dancing and the al fresco Jungle Junction for breakfast and dinner buffets, often accompanied by entertainment in the evenings. Stanley’s Terrace with its clear view of the Victoria Falls Bridge has been popular with adventurers to Africa for over a century and is the place to be for cocktails or afternoon teas. Nearby is Stanley’s Bar a cosy area evoking all the history of this hotel.
In the extensive grounds you will also find a curated gallery of original stone sculptures by Zimbabwean artists.
Facilities may change. Some activities may be subject to an additional charge.
" This ‘grand old dame’ is showing her age in some areas but what she lacks in modern touches, she makes up for with her story and her place in history.
A wander around the hotel corridors reveals an array of historical prints and posters covering the story of the hotel and a bygone era of travel.
Afternoon tea on the terrace overlooking the gorge down to the bridge is an iconic experience. "
The Victoria Falls Hotel has a prime location with great views down the gorge to the railway bridge.
