Adventures in Africa

If it’s thrills you’re after, Africa will deliver. Beyond the game drives, which are thrilling in themselves, there are action-packed adventures and activities that will really get your pulses racing.

Saddle-up

If riding into the sunset is something you’ve always dreamed of, where better to give it a go than on a horseback safari. Whether you want to splash through the waters of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, gallop alongside big game in Kenya or canter across the Kalahari sands, speak to our team who will happily advise on multi-day safaris for experienced riders and camps where you can ride a horse, no experience required.

Cycle Rides

Whether it’s a cycle ride along a beachfront promenade, mountain biking in a nature reserve, e-bike trails in the bush, or fat bikes on the dunes, there are cycling adventures for all. For those with real pedal power, we can also arrange a 6 night guided cycling safari in Botswana’s Okavango Delta.

Water Thrills

White-water rafting on the Zambezi River and Uganda’s swirling Nile rapids is guaranteed to get the adrenalin pumping; a canoe safari at Mana Pools provides excitement at a gentler pace.

Sleep Under the Stars

Spend a night on salt pans so vast they can be seen from space. Or pitch up on the banks of a Zambian river or a Delta island, with just a mosquito net between you and the stars. A night fly camping is a truly unforgettable, thrilling experience. And if you prefer a sleep out with a little more luxury, just let us know, we are happy to recommend camps with beautiful outdoor bedrooms.

Trek With Camels

An adventure with a difference. Head across the plains of northern Kenya with your specialist guide and a herd of camels, who will transport your entire camp as you walk. Pitch your tent each night in a different location and unwind at the campfire.

Climbing Kilimanjaro

Reaching the summit of Africa’s highest mountain is an adventure that sits at the top of many bucket lists. A number of routes lead to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, some more challenging than others, but as the sun rises and the views unfold, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were on top of the world. If you prefer a shorter climb, we suggest Tanzania’s second highest mountain, Mount Meru.

South Africa’s Mountains

Ascending Cape Town's Table Mountain by foot can be steep in places but worth the effort, especially with a trained mountain guide. Take a picnic, don your walking boots and head into the Drakensberg Mountains in KwaZulu-Natal  where there are many scenic trails to explore. A walk among the sandstone outcrops of the Cederberg Mountains will reveal ancient rock art paintings dating back more than 10,000 years.

Africa on Foot

Getting close to Africa’s wildlife is a thrilling experience. Whether you’re exploring the astonishing biodiversity and exquisite landscapes of the Kruger or trekking through Zambia’s sun-baked parks, being on foot heightens the senses and connects you with nature in a primal way. In Tanzania and Kenya, expert guides will lead you off the beaten track and into areas of pristine wilderness.

Conquer a Sand Dune

Climbing up one of Namibia’s massive sand dunes can be a real test of endurance, but the views from the top are utterly worth the effort.

Guided walking tour

Join a small group of fellow walkers on a 15 day guided walking tour, taking in South African highlights such as the Blyde River Canyon, KwaZulu-Natal’s famed battlefields, the Drakensberg Amphitheatre and a day of walking in the hills of neighbouring eSwatini.
