Day by day
DAY 2
At leisure in Pretoria
Arrive in Johannesburg and transfer to your chosen hotel for the night. Pretoria lies around 40 kms north of Johannesburg and is the administrative capital of South Africa. Home to a variety of interesting museums, historic buildings and the National Zoological Gardens, there are numerous accommodation options to choose from. Rovos Rail journeys depart from Pretoria, making this the ideal place to relax before your adventure on the train. Overnight at the Castello Di Monte or similar.
DAYS 3-6
Luxury aboard Rovos Rail
Transfer to the station to board the iconic Rovos Rail luxury train to Victoria Falls. We highly recommend arriving early to enjoy a tour of the railway museum – please let your African Pride consultant know if you would like to do so. The train travels north across the Tropic of Capricorn into Zimbabwe, with off train excursions to explore Matobo National Park and a thrilling game drive in Hwange National Park included. Dinner is a formal event served in the elegant dining car. All meals and drinks (excluding Champagne) are included. Your consultant will be happy to discuss the various suite options available to you onboard. Overnight onboard Rovos Rail.
DAYS 7-9
Explore the Victoria Falls
The train arrives at the bustling town of Victoria Falls, where you will be transferred to your chosen hotel for a three night stay. One of the seven natural wonders of the world, the iconic Falls themselves must be seen to be believed. The Zimbabwean side of the Falls is home to many walkways where you may explore on foot, and we will be happy to organise a guide for you. Helicopter flights, white-water rafting, sunset river cruises are just some of the many activities to choose from – ask your consultant for recommendations.
DAYS 10-12
Safari in Chobe National Park
Transfer by road across the border into Botswana for three exciting nights on safari. Easily accessible from Kasane, Chobe National Park is famous for its large elephant herds, and game drives in the northern part of the park allow for exciting big game interactions. The Chobe River is key for sustaining wildlife in this area, where boat cruises offer a scenic game viewing alternative and a variety of birdlife.
DAY 13
Transfer to the airport
Enjoy your final game drive and breakfast in Chobe National Park before being transferred by road to Kasane airport to begin your journey home via Johannesburg.
