DAY 2
At leisure in Johannesburg.
Arrive in Johannesburg and transfer to your chosen hotel for 1 night. South Africa’s gateway city is an exciting and energetic mix of old and new. Historic museums and monuments document the rise and fall of Apartheid, whilst the vibrant art, coffee and shopping scenes represent modern Jozi. Whether you are looking to recharge your batteries around safari or to dig deeper into this fascinating city, ask the African Pride team for ideas to make the most of your time.
DAYS 3-4
Safari in malaria free Madikwe
Today you will journey north-west to the Madikwe Game Reserve, approximately 4 hours transfer by road from Johannesburg, for 2 nights on safari. Talk to your tours consultant about upgrading to light aircraft flights if you wish to reduce travel times on your safari circuit. Madikwe is one of South Africa’s largest game reserves and is home to the Magnificent Seven – the traditional Big Five plus cheetah and wild dog. With a range of family friendly accommodation options and many properties offering activities tailored for children, Madikwe is one of our favourite choices for an exclusive and exciting escape.
DAYS 5-6
Wildlife & the Waterberg Mountains
It’s a 4 hour transfer to your next wildlife spotting opportunity, as you head into the Waterberg Mountains for a 2 night stay. Including a UNESCO protected biosphere, this scenic region is home to a selection of big game and an abundance of birdlife, with the mountain background providing a stunning setting. Marakele National Park – in heart of the Waterberg - translates as “a place of sanctuary” however with multiple property choices in the locality there are options to include fishing, horse-riding and ancient rock art visits alongside game drives. The African Pride team can suggest the perfect choice for your clan.
DAYS 7-10
Cosmopolitan Cape Town
Transfer by road back to Johannesburg and then fly to Cape Town for a 4 night stay. The “Mother City” is jam packed with options to ensure a memorable stay for all ages. Take the cable car up Table Mountain for iconic views and family selfies, explore the numerous attractions in the V&A Waterfront, or head south to the Cape Peninsula. Kids and adults will love the playful penguins at Boulders Beach, and picturesque fishing villages offer picnic stops away from the crowds. The big question is will you want to stay longer to fully experience all Cape Town has to offer?
DAY 11
Transfer to the airport
Enjoy a final day in Cape Town before you are transferred back to the airport for your overnight flight to the UK.
