DAY 2

Relax in sub-tropical Durban

Arrive in Durban and collect your hire car for the short drive to your hotel. The coastal town of uMhlanga offers beachside cafes and shopping opportunities to ease you into South African life. Relax on the sands or take a stroll along the boardwalk for a photo at the famous uMhlanga lighthouse. Drive time approx. 30 minutes.

DAYS 3-4

Drive to the Drakensberg Mountains.

Head inland to the breath-taking uKhaHlamba-Drakensberg Park, a World Heritage Site. Home to dramatic mountain scenery, numerous hiking trails and many examples of San Rock art, this is paradise for lovers of the great outdoors. Additional activities can include mountain biking, horse-riding or exploring the forests on a canopy tour – ask your African Pride consultant for details. Drive time approx. 4 hours.

DAY 5

Drive to the Spioenkop Battlefields

Situated in the foothills of the KwaZulu-Natal Drakensberg range, we suggest splitting your time between Spioenkop and Rorke’s Drift areas to fully understand the history of both the Anglo-Boer and Anglo-Zulu conflicts. The lodges here also offer additional activities such as game drives and game walks in their private reserves. Please note: it is essential to pre-book Battlefield Tours and some game experiences. Not all tours run every day. If you wish to take a particular tour a minimum 3-night stay is recommended. Drive time approx. 1 ½ hours.

DAYS 6-7

Drive to Rorke's Drift

Next drive to the famous battlefield sites of Rorke’s Drift and Isandlwana. We think Fugitive’s Drift is a treat for all. The views are incredible, and the passionate story-telling of the expert tour guides will enthral anyone, whether familiar with the history or not. Pre-booking of the 2 primary Battlefields Tours are essential, and additional time can easily be spent at further historical sites or enjoying the scenic walks if you would like to extend your stay. Drive time approx. 2½ hours.

DAYS 8-9

Enjoy a wildlife safari in the Manyoni Reserve

Drive to the Manyoni Game Reserve for a 2 night safari experience. One of several private Game Reserves in the north-east of KwaZulu-Natal, this area is home to spectacular scenery as well as the iconic wildlife. Enjoy game drives to try and spot the Big 5 with mountain backdrops, rivers and wooded valleys framing the view. The reserves of KZN are a conservation success story and a real favourite of the African Pride team. Drive time approx. 4 ½ hours.

DAYS 10-12

Drive to the Dolphin Coast

Enjoy a final morning on safari before you drive down to the Dolphin Coast, just north of Durban. Relax by the pool or enjoy the ocean views from the pretty seaside towns nestled amongst the palm trees. Keep your eyes peeled for the eponymous dolphins skimming along the shoreline, or ask your African Pride consultant about surfing, snorkelling or SUP tours in the area. Drive time approx. 3 ½ hours.

Drive to the airport

Make the short drive to Durban airport to drop off your hire car and catch your onward flight via Johannesburg to the UK.
