DAY 1
Start your holiday with an overnight flight to Windhoek via Frankfurt.
DAY 2
Arrive in Windhoek and transfer to your hotel for one night. Relax at your hotel or use your leisure time to enjoy the sights of Namibia’s capital city. There are craft markets and art galleries to explore and relaxing walks in the Parliament Gardens or National Botanic Garden. The Christ Church is an iconic landmark – a striking piece of architecture with beautiful stained glass windows. You are free to spend this afternoon as you wish.
DAY 3
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your first light aircraft flight. Flying between Namibia’s key destinations is a great way to travel. Not only does it cut down on long road journeys and maximizes time on safari, but the birds eye view of the unique landscape delights at every turn. Please note, these flights operate on an air taxi basis and may be shared with other passengers. Ask the African Pride team if you would like to upgrade to private charter flights for an exclusive experience. On arrival at the airstrip, you will be met and transferred to your lodge for a two night stay. Be prepared to be wowed by the night sky – this is Africa’s first International Dark Sky Reserve.
DAY 4
An early morning departure to see the magnificent sand dunes at Sossusvlei bathed in the light of sunrise. Whilst the dunes are the most famous attraction in the Namib-Naukluft National Park, there are other stunning natural landscapes to enjoy too. The fossilised trees at Deadvlei provide a stark contrast to the shimmering white pans and towering red dunes. Sesriem Canyon is a spectacular gorge formed by the Tsauchab River. Ask your African Pride consultant about additional activities such as a hot air balloon over the dunes.
DAY 5
Today’s flight will give you an aerial view of the dunes, before continuing up the coast (subject to weather conditions). Flying over Conception Bay is a highlight, with this stretch of the Skeleton Coast being largely inaccessible by road. Upon landing at Swakopmund, you will be transferred to your choice of hotel for the night, with the remainder of the day at leisure. Talk to the African Pride team about the exciting activities on offer in the area.
DAY 6
You will be transferred to Swakopmund airport for your flight to Twyfelfontein, where you will be transferred to your camp for a two night stay. Famous for its rock engravings, there are over 2,500 in the area, dating back as far as 6.000 years. Enjoy an afternoon excursion to marvel at these ancient wonders and the nearby geological wonder of the Organ Pipes – striking basalt columns of prehistoric volcanic lava.
DAY 7
An early morning game drive takes you in search of the unique elephant herds which have adapted to thrive in the arid conditions. Despite the challenge of scarce water sources, the majestic creatures have developed a nomadic lifestyle and can often be observed digging in riverbeds to access water laying below the surface. Return to your camp, nestled in the boulders which make Damaraland one of the most striking landscapes in the country.
DAY 8
After breakfast you will fly from the local airfield to a private game reserve on the southern border of Etosha National Park. Your rangers will collect you and transfer you to your camp. An afternoon game drive on the Ongava reserve will help you learn about the conservation practices that lie at the heart of the Ongava experience – particularly their work protecting rhino. You will spend two nights here enjoying wonderful game experiences and spectacular views.
DAY 9
A morning game drive in the neighbouring Etosha National Park – Namibia’s premier wildlife destination. The diverse habitats are home to a wide variety of game and incredible birdlife that flock to the seasonal waterholes. Return to your camp for lunch then enjoy an afternoon game drive on the Ongava Reserve.
DAY 10
Enjoy a morning game activity at Ongava before the short flight south to the Okonjima Nature Reserve, home of the world renowned AfriCat Foundation. Famous for their work with injured predators, this afternoon you will have the opportunity to head out with a guide on a leopard tracking activity. You may also be lucky enough to spot brown hyena competing with the cats for food. Return to your camp for a final evening swapping stories from an unforgettable adventure.
DAY 11
Your final light aircraft flight will return you to the capital Windhoek. Fly overnight via Frankfurt back to the UK or ask the African Pride team about options to add another exciting African destination.
