DAYS 2-5
At leisure in Cape Town
Arrive in Cape Town and collect your hire car, then drive to your apartment in the heart of the city for a 4 night stay. With so much to explore on your doorstep, kids and adults of all ages will fall in love with the Mother City. Discover Table Mountain, Robben Island and the vibrant V & A Waterfront. Venture further afield to Cape Point or say hello to the penguins of Boulders Beach. We have an extensive range of day trips and activities which we recommend booking in advance, ask your African Pride consultant for details.
DAYS 6-7
Winelands delights
Depart Cape Town for the short drive to the Cape Winelands. The historic Boschendal estate is your home for the next 2 nights. As well as exceptional wine tastings, the scenic grounds are perfect for family picnics, exploring on foot, bike or horseback (additional costs may apply). Farm tours also help bring this beautiful working estate to life. Drive time approx. 1 hour.
DAYS 8-9
Explore the Garden Route
Drive through quaint towns and stunning scenery as you make your way to the start of the Garden Route. The charming town of Sedgefield is home for the next 2 nights, where the coast meets a pristine fynbos reserve home to plains game such as zebra and waterbuck. With spectacular views at every turn, your stay includes selected daily activities, bike hire and beach kits for the kids. Those wishing to stay independently may also book on a bed & breakfast basis and explore the local area in your own vehicle. Drive time approx. 5 hours.
DAYS 10-12
Activities galore around Plettenberg Bay
A scenic coastal drive brings you to Plettenberg Bay – the ‘Jewel of the Garden Route’. Spend 3 nights at Fairview House, just a 10 minute drive from the main town, but with a wealth of forest and beach walks on your doorstep. The area around Plettenberg Bay is home to a myriad of attractions including Monkeyland and Birds of Eden, plus numerous family friendly beaches and a wealth of outdoor activities. The only question is will 3 nights be enough? Drive time approx. 1 ½ hours.
DAYS 13-14
Enjoy a safari in the Eastern Cape
Drive to your chosen Eastern Cape game reserve for a 2 night stay on safari. Arrive in time for lunch and settle into your accommodation before embarking on an exciting afternoon game drive. Shamwari is one of the best known reserves in the Eastern Cape and has a wide choice of accommodation options. Riverdene is particularly well suited for families with interconnecting rooms, a dedicated Kids on Safari programme and adventure centre, plus a chance to visit the Born Free rescue and education centre between game drives. Drive time approx. 3 hours.
DAY 15
Drive to the airport
Enjoy your final game drive and breakfast before driving to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) airport to drop off your hire car and catch your onward flight via Johannesburg to the UK.
