Overview
 

MalaMala Game Reserve shares a 19 kilometre unfenced boundary with Kruger National Park and together with expansive river frontage along the Sand River, it means the wildlife encounters here are exceptional. It’s one of the largest, private Big 5 reserves in South Africa and this vast area of untouched African wilderness is shared with just three lodges.           
 

Rooms
 

There are three lodges of varying styles and sizes to choose from on the reserve. All rooms are furnished in a modern African style and have tea and coffee facilities, air-conditioning and overhead fans.
 

• MalaMala Camp – the largest of the camps, with 19 rooms and suites.
• MalaMala Sable Camp – next door to MalaMala Camp, Sable is a small, intimate camp with six suites, each with indoor and outdoor showers and a private deck overlooking the waterhole or the river.
• MalaMala Rattray’s Camp – the most luxurious camp with eight spacious suites, each with a private garden area and veranda, double bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers and a private plunge pool.

Facilities
 

All three lodges have comfortably furnished lounges and bar areas, an expansive wooden deck overlooking the Sand River, an outdoor pool and a traditional reed boma for evening meals around the campfire. Twice daily game drives are included at all camps.
 

Rattray’s Camp has a small fitness facility with a steam room.
